JUNE ALREADY

Our wishes ……..

We all know that stimulation is key to keep minds healthy and active.  If you can, or know anyone who can spare a little time to come to the home and entertain our residents or give them  a little demonstration or even some art therapy - we would be truly grateful. Please feel free to contact us at any time with any ideas you may have.

Time flies when you are having fun and we sure have had many fun moments but also some very sad ones.  We continue to focus on showering our residents with love and laughter while also trying to keep them warm and cosy in these cold months.

Our committee together with our  staff  believe that compassion is the key to make kindness and good heartedness the rule of order.  We aim to understand the spirit and the soul of all our residents and meet their needs.  We endeavour to provide respect, dignity and a life worth living in these challenging times.

Guardian Angels

Our Guardian Angels continue to shower us with generosity and we would like to thank them all for their continued kindness – You all know who you are – Thank you so much, without you all we could not continue to provide our folk with a loving and secure environment that they call home.

.

To all those people who ask for nothing other than personal satisfaction of knowing they made a  difference in the lives of some needy persons, we say thank you so very much for your dedication and labour of love.

Out and About

In March the B.S. Leon had a fundraising evening at the Barnyard – This was a huge success and we thank everyone who supported us on the night.

The Zimbabwe Christian Motor Cycle  Association visited us at Easter where all of us were given chocolate eggs – Many of our “ brave” residents were taken on a ride on the motorcycles which they loved – The oldest resident who went for a ride was “ Nina “ who is almost 90 years old.

Our residents were invited to Sharon School where we were served a delicious tea and were treated to a school play to celebrate “ Shavuot “ – (The Feast of Weeks) – All the children brought to school fruit and vegetables and donated them to us – We enjoyed a delicious vegetable soup the next night.

Happenings around the Home

We are blessed to have a lovely woman “ Nomsa” who gives generously of her time every Sunday to  pamper our residents with pedicures and foot massage – This weekly event is hugely looked forward to and we would like to thank Nomsa for her kindness.

Thanks to Mr. Jose Dias, each room and our frail care section have been fitted with heaters and the winter months are now easier to cope with.

Staying in Touch

It’s never too late to say “ I Love you ” Today is the day - Don’t wait for the right time.  Moments escape never to return on this side of Eternity and now is the time -

If they haven’t said “ I Love you “  – Its up to you

We encourage you to please send letters or messages to your loved ones in the home, they really love to stay in touch, and we will ensure they receive them.  You may use either one of the following email addresses martine@zimbiz.net or bsleon@zimbiz.net.

Laughter is food for our soul

The Internet What’s that?

“C’mon Ma you have got to try it” I pleaded to my elderly Mother.

I don’t know how my Mother lasted this long without ever using the internet, but enough was enough! I thought.

“Ok” she said reluctantly settling down by the computer and slowly putting on her reading glasses “what do I do now?”

“Now I’m going to open the home page of Google”, I explained. “OK here it is! Now type in ANY question you want into the bar over here and you will find an answer to your question.” I confidently assured her.

My Mother looked at me warily, thought for a second, and slowly began to type,

How is Gertrude doing this morning ???
