REPS

At The Repertory Players’ Annual General Meeting on Sunday April 11, new members and office bearers were elected onto the Executive Committee. Each has his or her portfolio and will be looking at ways and means of enhancing the already successful status, standing and operations of Reps. Please give them all your support and encouragement, as well as your ideas and suggestions.

Stan Higgins – Chairman and Chairman, Marketing and Publicity

Sue Bolt – Vice Chairman and Chairman, Production

Tim Garrard – Chairman, Bar Management

Marc Thomas – Stage Director (in which capacity he chairs the Backstage Committee)

Ryan Lawrence – Chairman, Office and Property Management

Sue McMillan – Chairman, Finance

Mike Blackburn – Chairman, Technical Management

Kevin Hanssen – Chairman, Training and Development

Mike Southall – Chairman, Membership

In addition, Christine Sandford agreed to be co-opted onto Exco and to take on chairmanship of Social Events.

A strategic planning seminar is to be held soon, from which will flow a plan of action for the coming year. Key to deliberations will be planning on: (a) increasing patronage of the two theatres, (b) increasing revenue in the bars and from social events, and(c) identifying and tapping into additional areas of income generation. In doing this, there must be an accent on enjoyment and the continued pursuit of the theatrical excellence for which Reps has become known.

You may also wish to know that a new committee for Repteens was recently elected, made up of:

Kuzivakwashe Muvezwa – Chairman

Meredith Render – Vice Chairman

Peter Blackburn, Tristan Charnley and Fraser Flight – committee members

Kyla Render remains the co-ordinator of Repteens.

Reps, with its many different facets and features, is a great society made up of many talented and hardworking people, with an amazing tradition dating back 80 years and it is the new committee’s objective to make it even greater and to ensure financial strength.

Thank you
STAN HIGGINS
