Here here!!
All I can say is my heart bleeds for all the animals wild and domestic Meryl
has treated and rescued regardless of what time it was whether it was Christmas
day or how many hundreds of miles she had to go to sort them out!! Last time
she left we were all horrified as we had NO ONE to call on absolutely no help
from the SPCA they had no transport no fuel no one on duty and frankly didnt
seem to care!! The times Ive seen poor cattle heads trapped under the bars in
the broken down old truck taking them on their final journey, phoned Meryl and
known something will be done immediately. Hopefully the staff at VAWAS will
take up the reins as Im sure they will. We all wish Meryl all happiness in the
UK and a great retirement you sure deserve it . Everyone whose lives youve
touched including the hundreds of Innocent Victims wish you Good Health and
time off!!! We will miss you terribly.

How sad to
lose such a dedicated and experienced person. We all know how much she did for
animals in this country and we salute her! I hope she has a more peaceful and
healthy life

I am not qualified for such a task but I do think somebody should gather
enough evidence for Meryl Harrison to be awarded an honour in UK – at least an
OBE – for her extraordinary work protecting and saving animals in Zimbabwe for
so many years. Submissions can be made to the British Enbassy here. Meryl is
British. I know because that was my first bit of research before I gave up any
hope of carrying through details of her work and dedication in almost
impossible circumstances for a submission to be made. Her work on farms when
they were destroyed by so-called War Vets is beyond ordinary praise. My son in
law and daughter lost theirs and had a horse burned alive. It was a terrible
time and Meryl was in the thick of it all. I do hope you agree with this
suggestion and have somebody well placed to do her justice in this way.
Regards, John
PS> Please tell me whether the 15 puppies survived their ordeal on the
journey to Congo despite her strenuous, not to say dangerous, efforts. I
suspect that incident was the straw that brought down the camel.

This is such sad news, what a wonderful person who has done so much in
Zimbabwe. Is there no way she will change her mind? The animals in Zim
really need her. How terrible that she has been treated so badly.
.............
Meryl was a tremendous
help to us in Avondale West. Yes, she will be sadly missed. Thx for sharing
this news release. Trust she finds wondrous rest and refreshment with friends
and environs back in the UK...well-deserved, indeed!!
................
What a blow ! I am sure all the other animal lovers in this
country are as devastated by this as I am. . .
........
Oh my gosh that is so sad. She was a wonderful women who did A great
deal what a terrible loss to us as Zimbabweans.
..............
A sad day for Zimbabwe!! – we honour you Meryl and your work that you
have done for this country xx
................
Very sad as she is a very brave
and dedicated lady
……………
I am deeply sad that a fantastic lady that fights for
these animals will be lost here. I pray she has good health and joy
overseas. We must still keep fighting for all animals they also have
rights!!

Such a great loss for Zimbabwe. Very sad to hear this news.

People remember Meryl did not do things single handedly, what about her team that rescued the farm animals whilst she sat in truck? I for one experienced this when l needed her most. Her black assistants actually did all the work. Why have they never been credited?
ReplyDeleteIt's true that her helpers did a lot of good work, they should also be thought of. I´m reading the book and it's so sad, but interesting.
