I refer
to the Advertisement which appeared recently in the National Press about Meryl
Harrison.
MERYL
HARRISON is employed by Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Zimbabwe (VAWZ) as our
Chief
Animal Welfare Inspector.
She has
never represented herself as working for any other organization, since she
returned to
Zimbabwe
in 2009.
Due to
unrelenting negative pressure on Meryl Harrison, since her return to this
country, which has
undermined
her stature and activities as an Inspector for VAWZ, plus the considerable toll
it has
taken
on her health, she will be going to live in the UK at the end of September.
Her
vast experience and dedication to the furtherance of animal welfare in Zimbabwe
will now be lost
to us
forever. We take this opportunity of expressing our sincere gratitude for her
devoted work for
animal
welfare in Zimbabwe over many years.
VAWZ
will continue its activities, especially towards its stated goal of improving
the knowledge and
practice
of animal welfare within the general population of Zimbabwe.
VAWZ
will also continue to engage with the ZNSPCA to ensure that apparent divisions
in the animal
welfare
fraternity do not negate this essential work.
