DOGS TRAVELING ON THE BACK OF OPEN
VEHICLES - There has been an increase in
the number of dogs that have become lost, badly injured or lost their lives
because they are not properly restrained in a vehicle - those dogs riding in
the back of pick-up trucks are particularly at risk. If you're unable to keep
your dog inside the vehicle, please make sure that someone is in attendance in
the back with the dog (which is suitably secure in a harness or at least a
collar and lead), or install a secured crate which is positioned in
the centre of the truck box, or tether the dog securely with a short
harness to ensure safety from strangulation. A covering of some sort
will help protect your dog from weather extremes, dehydration and heat stroke.
By law, we have to buckle up - isn't your dog worthy of the same consideration? Mel Hood VAWZ 0778431528 vawz@yoafrica.com
