Dear Reps Members
As many of you already know, the Reps office was recently burgled and money was stolen from the safe, creating a serious financial problem for the society. This matter is now in the hands of the police. New measures have been introduced to prevent a recurrence of this sophisticated burglary.
Subsequent to the burglary, we have been able to stabilize the situation with careful management of incoming funds from the theatres and the bars, but this very tight situation – exacerbated by the present even tighter money flow in the economy – continues to pose problems. Fortunately, our cash management is strictly controlled and well managed, but we need to seek additional funds in the short term.
As a result of this, we are sending out this appeal to members to ask for voluntary donations to assist in achieving a number of short-term objectives – ranging from substantial restocking of the bars to undertaking essential repairs and maintenance in the theatre and elsewhere on the premises. The appeal is for voluntary support on a one-off basis and it will be up to members to decide what they can afford to donate, should they be in a position to do so.
All donations should be made to the Reps office and given to Erin as Society Secretary, and she will ensure you get a receipt and that this is entered into the donations book.
We appreciate your consideration of this request and hope you will be able to help.
