Kariba Dam Wall will be subject to tolls

Dear Taxpayer and Business Partner,

Wednesday, October 17, 2012,

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) advises the motoring public that, with effect from 1st November 2012, all vehicles using the Kariba Dam Wall will be subject to tolls at prescribed rates in terms of Statutory Instrument 145A of 2012.

The prescribed rates are as attached to this email.

Please Note: Tolls for the use of Kariba Dam Wall are payable to the Zambezi River Authority and are collected by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority on the Zimbabwean side of the dam and the Zambia Revenue Authority on the Zambian side.

TOLLS NOW PAYABLE ON USE OF KARIBA DAM WALL
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) advises the motoring public that, with effect from 1st November 2012, all vehicles using the Kariba Dam Wall will be subject to tolls at prescribed rates in terms of Statutory Instrument 145A of 2012.
The prescribed rates are as follows:

Vehicle Category
Fee

Light motor vehicle
US$1.00 (one United States Dollar)

Bus
US$5.00 (five United States Dollars)

Heavy motor vehicle
US$30.00 (thirty United States Dollars)

Vehicle carrying abnormal load
US$50.00 (fifty United States Dollars)

Definitions:
“Light motor vehicle_ means a vehicle whose gross mass does not exceed three tonnes.
“Heavy motor vehicle_ means a vehicle whose gross mass exceeds three tonnes but does not exceed 56 tonnes with an axle load not exceeding 11 tonnes per axle.
“Bus_ means a passenger public service vehicle designed to carry more than seven passengers.
“Vehicle carrying abnormal load_ means a heavy motor vehicle whose gross mass exceeds 56 tonnes with an axle load NOT exceeding 11 tonnes per axle.
