Mutorashanga bust what might be part of a gang that prints and distributes "US currency" in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50 & $100 fake bills. The crime was uncovered when a couple of the gang bought apples at Mapinga using a fake US$10.00 note and boarded a kombi headed for Mutorashanga. On detecting the fraud, the apple vendor informed a Z R Police Mutorashanga officer who was waiting for lifts to Chinhoyi. The officer quickly relayed the message to Mutorashanga and the two criminals were arrested. Through indications, a further four criminals were arrested in Harare and their equipment as well as fake US$32 000.00 was recovered. The suspects are currently assisting Police with investigations.
