Drugs in Zimbabwe

I know that smoking dagga is very prevalent amongst our youth.  I witnessed a group of varsity students at new year on a houseboat openly smoking dagga with the help of a tin can.  Dagga is very cheap and available  to our youngsters, and the sad fact is that they all think it is ok to smoke dagga and drive.  I truly believe that not many parents are aware of how many of their children are smoking dagga on a regular basis.  What is also prevalent is the use of steroids and testosterone (sometimes even equine testosterone is used) amongst our children who are playing sport (schools countrywide have the same problem) , maybe we are putting too much pressure on them to succeed on the rugby field or in the water polo pools.  These steroids although fairly expensive are freely available as well – it is just word of mouth.  I don’t believe that the kids using these black market drugs are informed enough about the long term side effects of what they are taking.  MILLIPIED

I am looking for help voicing concern towards the behaviour of our communities youth. Recently, I have seen on Facebook, the advertisement of Parties hosted by zimbabwean youngsters who are under the age of 18. I would like an e-mail sent out to the community and especially parents, voicing concern about this, least to say disgusting behaviour. The one event that popped up on my Facebook Newsfeed was a party called “ Valentines Ripper: The Rebirth Of Alcoholics
To me this is very disrespectful, as I have battled the affects of alcohol abuse and alcoholism is rife in my Family. It’s a disease and can be just as bad as a terminal disease such as cancer. How Youngsters can want to be “alcoholics” will baffle me It is like someone saying “I want to get Cancer”
Events posted by these youngsters such as this are highly disrespectful to people battling alcoholism and substance abuse. It’s a disease
As any other and it is a battle every day for the rest of your life. I think parents should control their youngsters and guide them to have better views on life and to stop the underage drinking. Turtle

Yes we definitely have a drug problem, though fortunately we are not as bad as South Africa. It seems as if this is more prevalent in the elite private schools where kids are targeted as they have ready cash to spend. I hear of “druglords” frequenting schools, school functions, night clubs where youung kids hang out, so that they can sell the drugs to vulnerable kids. The problem is mostly peer pressure- the need to be cool and to try out new things. In terms of what we can do, we just have to start from home, educating the young ones that taking drugs is a no no, and also monitoring our kids’ behaviours at all times. We also need to have a naming and shaming exercise because some of these druglords are known by our kids and with dialogue it would be prudent to let our children know that doing drugs is not cool AT ALL and also that they need to identify perpetrators to authorities or do this through their parents.- Very concerned parent

It is all well and good that we are aware of drugs etc and the problems but there is something of GREAT concern to me. This is that codine based drugs are available in this country, over the counter. I know a lady that is not young (people tend to associate drug problems with the youth) who chomps probably 15 Pynstop a day. These pills are available in bottles of 50 tablets! There are others as well, such as adcadol, stopayne and pure codine phosphate. This drug is highly addictive and causes a drowsy state, and then we have to share the roads with these dozy, buzzing people! Many pharmacists require details before handing over these drugs BUT the cunning addict will “pharmacy hop” to get a continuous supply. Their other trick is to ask someone to visit and then mention, oh please can you buy me XXX tablets on the way…

Trying to take control of an addict is futile and will only drive YOU nuts. Simply, do not assist them by funding the habit, sourcing the “fix”, ignoring it (mention that you are aware of it but it is THEIR choice), do not suffer the consequences of their actions and do not cover up for them.If aches and pains are ongoing for years, treatment is required and must be sought. That’s my 10 cents!

Yes, you've had a drugs problem in H-Town for a long time now. I've know people (going back a few years) that went to a party where there were plates of Cocaine available - FREE! Of course the trick was to get the kids (teenagers and older) on to it and then they build business from there. The police were being paid off by one of the biggest drug dealers in H-Town. He used to own a club in those days. Thankfully I don't party any more or should I correctly say, I don't party with the wrong people any more - so I don't have an up-to-date view. Thankfully I was never interested in using as I knew it would be a problem in the end.

But the problem is still there - if they have money they will get it. Peer pressure, how to look cool, how to feel cool, boredom, stupidity! The youth in this country are frustrated. They start smoking from a young age and drinking from a young age and think that is the only way to have fun and if you throw in some drugs, all the better! And yes, everyone has been ignoring it. But I have been told that it is STILL a HUGE business here, now governed by the moneyed diamond exploiters and some other moneyed people. "Teddy"

  1. Drugs have become an issue of concern and if no vast action is taken our young generation will lead us to a disastrous future.

  4. If people think life in Zimbabwe is so great, they've got their heads buried in the sand.

Parents don't have a clue what their kids get up to when out or they choose to ignore it. I've grown up with these guys and it's disturbing to see what's going on. People are worried about drugs and alcohol but a bigger worry is sex and how easy girls have become. Zimbabwean girls have lost all morals, shame, self respect and self worth. They try to out party, out drink and out screw the guys.

Tarryn Ingram and Chanel Muil became known as the village bicycles with the amount of guys they slept with. The village bicycles because everyone's had a ride. Axiom and Dukes were their homes away from home. Chanel has been carried out of there a few times with her skirt around her waist dead drunk. With her goods flashed to the world. In 2010 they spent many nights there they were about 17 at the time. They rocked up one time in maids uniforms as drunk as could be, falling over each other and kissing any guy standing still.

After axiom they went to Ricky's place with two other guys. Zane Osteinzen and Micky Alcom.tarryn said Chanel slept with all three guys within the hour. Zane said he was the first to sleep with the girls and the other guys were just stirring his porridge. The girls thought it was funny and seemed proud of what went on. I know a lot of girls who've gone on serious benda's hurled in the guys car , on his bed and carried on having sex and they thought it was funny!

Be any and a lot of the other guys don't have good thigs to say about these girls and yet they're happy to sleep with them. Chanel's nick name from the guys is poison dwarf. Never to her face though just behind her back. When here in December Chanel got involved with a few guys. Chayten Haasbroek, Shaun and a couple more. One of them said she cleaned him out of his stash of mushroome and dagga in exchange for sex!

Where are the parents? A lot of them are worse than their kids. They're getting drunk every weekend not caring what their kids do. People say Chanel takes after her stepmom Christine Muil. Drinks like her father and screws like her stepmom.

These are Chanel's kind of people. Her words according to Greg. If she's with a Christian she's a Christian. If she's with a slut she's a slut. If she's with a druggie she's a druggie. Her friends say she has no mind of her own she just changes to who she's with. Her friends say she seems to like playing the victim and gets off on being used by guys. But they push her saying you go girl. You live out our fantasy for us. You've got game girl . Use those guys because they use jus. But they're sitting at home, egging her to sleep with whoever.

Besides Chanel maybe being pregnant there's also the rumour that she has picked up the gift that keeps on giving and giving and the guys she's slept with don't know. A few of these girls work in Childcare and spend their days looking after young kids. I would never leave my kids with them! Chanel's friends say she likes her boys young so she's got the perfect job. How messed up can these girls get?

Guys don't sleep with these girls because they like them. They sleep with them because they're cheap and easy. These girls boast to each other that they've slept with this hot guy and that hot guy but the guys have slept with any girl who's available so you're nothing special to them. They really don't give a damn.

A lot of these kids look down on people who aren't rich and my family's been called low class for that reason. And yet this is how they behave. Money cannot buy class.

If parents took more responsibility for their kids, a lot of this kind of behaviour would be avoided. I thank God I have the parents I do.

  5. Drugs and drinking are now part of our culture. I know very few youngsters my age who haven't used either or both and along with this comes sex. A lot of the time sex isn't conceptual because the girls high on something. Nothing gets reported because of embarrassment or shame and girls try to brush it off by treating it like a joke and that it's normal behaviour. Most of the blame lies on the parents because they're too consumed about their own little world to worry what their kids are doing. If raising their kids gets too hard they turn a blind eye to everything and call it all part of growing up.

I don't like to attack anyone personally but there are times like now when I can't help say something. Chanel Muil who is now Chanel Eade was invited around to my place when she first moved to oz. we were having a good fun night and the next thing Greg tells me that Chanel told him we were not her kind of people. I wondered for a long time why I'd never heard from her again. But I know what she's like in Zim, her and her friends.

Chanel keeps telling people that she hates Zim and will never go back. Then she's telling Chayten Haasbroek she'll shack up with on his plot when she goes back in December. In the next breath she's telling Shaun Ingram(the almost daddy) that she'll hook up with him on her con tiki tour. Then she's chatting up Robbie Sargent and getting all mushy with him. Then she's flirting with Andrew Kersten( I know Tina's nephew so hear everything)

Tarryn says Chanel boasts to her and Megan van Niekerk and Kimberley Blythe about how many guys she's slept with and what they did, saying it's just sex and it's fun. Taz reckons she'll be one of those women who'll be beaten up and keep going back for more because she likes the abuse. My brother was sakes why he didn't sleep with Chanel and his answer was, if anyone can have it, I don't. Simple and honest.

Foxy recently told me that Gaz had paid for her and Chanels con tiki tour and I was surprised because Chanel has said to Megs and Kimba that Gaz and Roxy are as boring as watching paint dry. She said Gaz has turned Roxy into a bore.

I saw a post recently by Tyler Flashman, calling Kimba and Megs after a haircut, fresh cuts for the sluts. And they thought it was a huge joke. I would bury the f*€£¥% for saying something like that to me. I often wonder what their parents would say about how to speak to girls and why these girls have no self respect. I want to be there when they're trying to explain this to their kids and grand kids.
